I’ve been involved in various building projects over the years, and my experience with TLC was absolutely fantastic. I had an amazing experience with TLC, especially with Andrew, my project manager. I first discovered the company through local social media groups, and several people personally recommended them. I had no prior knowledge of loft extensions, but Andrew was incredibly helpful, informative, and guided me through every step of the process, ensuring I understood each phase. He was always quick to respond to my many questions, which made the entire process enjoyable and stress-free.
He was proactive in sending me options for materials and examples of their previous work, and happy to accommodate any of my bespoke requests. Their Instagram page offers a lot of examples of their previous work which was a great inspiration. One thing that truly stood out was how he went the extra mile to speak with the neighbors and take photos for the record, saving me money by eliminating the need for a survey. TLC’s pricing was also very reasonable and competitive. Even when I decided to add extras, like skylights and duo-Velux, they kept the costs fair, which was a huge bonus compared to other companies I looked at.
The customer service was exceptional. Connor, who handled the drawings, was also highly knowledgeable and professional. TLC work with a great team of specialists, including roofers, electricians, and asbestos removal experts, ensuring that every aspect of the project is handled with expertise and care. Their team of builders, including Johnny, are excellent and friendly.

We are in the final stage of our loft conversion project done by TLC to create two additional double bedrooms in our home, and I couldn't be happier with the results.

Well done to the whole TLC team! The building work was done to a phenomenal standard by Johnny and Aron, who are master builders and incredibly thorough. I massively appreciated them keeping me updated and checking with me on design/layout details. Brad is an expert tiler with incredible attention to detail and did a heroic job cutting and installing granite kitchen worktops. Andrew was brilliant at handing a sensitive situation with the neighbours and together with Connor was always available to deal with any issues. Matt did a top job with second fix. Pedro was outstanding with finalising any snagging issues. It was absolutely worth going with TLC, who were very fairly priced and truly experts on all things lofts and general building. They ensured I was happy with the final result, which shows their care and dedication. Also a super friendly bunch and great to work with.

We recently had the pleasure of working with TLC on a loft extension and first-floor renovation for our home, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Before committing, we did our homework and obtained quotes from around 7-8 companies. While TLC wasn’t the most expensive option, they also weren’t the cheapest — but from our very first meeting with Connor we felt completely confident they were the right team for the job. Lofts par excellence! There must be hundreds of steps in building a loft. Connor, Liam and their design team carry them out perfectly. There is now a beautiful livable space upstairs!
We decided to alter the layout you see online for most loft conversions in the UK and TLC knew exactly what to do, informing and actually making friends with our neighbours so that everyone was on the same page. Planning permission was a breeze and we'd trust them to work on our house again in the future.

We used the services of the Loft Converter to build our double storey side extension. Connor was great at talking us through the process and also helped us plan & agree the quotation. The building work was completed to a super level and when issues arose during the actual building works, Connor and his team were always on hand to resolve as quickly as possible. TLC completed a rear dormer extension, within the dormer is a master suite with en-suite and walk in wardrobe, we also decided to re-roof the whole property. The process up to agreeing with TLC was seamless, they visited us at home several times to answer questions (of which there were many!) and listen to what we were trying to achieve - Not all builders we reached out to wanted to visit until we signed the contract, to us that is an instant no for such a significant investment.
The quote provided was detailed, clear and competitive.
Once we signed we quickly agreed a start date, the scaffolders arrived, who were efficient, quick and friendly.
Our build team was led by Callum and managed by Connor, both professional and friendly. The build phase relatively quick, but please note, no matter what your house will get dusty, we have 3 young kids and at times we did need to get out for dinner or order in, but TLC did all they could to minimise the disruption.
We did have some speed bumps along the way, in my experience nothing in construction will ever go perfectly, but the way TLC reacted to these speed bumps was excellent and they resolved to a high standard.
As a customer my advice is to be clear as to what you want and communicate effectively with the project manager and the onsite build team (tea and biscuits always help!) I felt they all genuinely want to do a great job and having an open dialogue I feel is vital to achieving that.
We found our own decorators locally, they did a great job, and we used other tradesmen we have used before to lay the flooring, although TLC did put us in touch with Pat who laid the new carpet.
To wrap up, TLC are professional, friendly and have a strong attention to detail. As a customer you need to invest your time in working with the team to get the best results.

Absolutely brilliant, so pleased!
I’ve been extremely happy with everything about using TLC for a recent loft conversion. I found the head office staff friendly and extremely easy to deal with. The actual project itself has been significantly more hassle free than previous projects I have undertaken. Every single person that they have sent to the house has been extremely easy to talk to, not patronising, friendly and explain things in a clear way. Moreover, their work has been without fault. I am extremely happy with the quality of both the build and finish, I would have no hesitation in recommending them to someone else for a loft conversion.
Naturally, as projects go on, you do anticipate that there will be additional cost incurred along the way, but unlike previous builders we’ve used, it was not commonplace and all costs were kept to a minimum.
I found everyone to be extremely accommodating and should we ever need to do a similar project in the future I’ll go straight back to TLC.

We hired TLC after recommendations from friends of ours in New Southgate. The budget quote from Conor was great, so we were happy to roll with them. I am a tradesman/bathroom/kitchen fitter/multi trade etc, so I was quite nose in and hands in! The guys were all great. The scaffolders were spot on...efficient and polite, and Dan/Luke and everyone who worked on the project were easy to get on with and very approachable. Dan was happy to suggest spatial modifications which were not on the drawings but which made more space for us and less work for them. His clear knowledge of building regs and professionalism made that process straightforward.
I was doing all the internals myself, and Matt was a diamond when it came to help moving the project forward. Alfie was also great at doing a few additional jobs that I ended up punting out: laying the floor boards etc.
The roofer was excellent also...clear communication and fast work of a high standard.
All in all...very happy with how it all turned out, and there were no issues with TLC other than positive ones.
If you are debating using TLC, then I would have no problems recommending the team that worked on our loft.
It's up to you to communicate with your builders; don't be afraid to ask questions; make lots of tea, (youngsters don't drink it though!); and involve yourself! I was amazed to hear that some clients never talk to the builders working on their property!

Like many, I reached out to several loft building companies for a quote. However TLC stood out to me in their attention detail and also in reverting back to my enquiries promptly and with Professionalism. The person who provided the quote (Andrew Payne) also was the project manager. This helped massively for me in the communication front as there was continuity on the ton of details agreed.
As part of the job, I was looking to change all the roof including the outrigger, take down 2 chimneys and replace all guttering and fascia boards. This was a big job!
TLC have now completed the loft work on schedule, and the results are outstanding. My family couldn't be happier. We managed to get 2 good sized bedroom, a bathroom in the loft space, also plenty of storage. Their tradesmen have all been great and taken the time to talk about the specifics and consult me on the details.

We decided we wanted to have our loft converted and after a lot of research and looking at different suppliers we decided to go for TLC and it was a great decision. The team came to see the space before giving the initial quote. The quote and payment schedule we received was clear and the process was explained to us. The work started when agreed and the team worked really quickly and to a great standard. We were able to ask any questions throughout the process and take their advice re. layout etc. The team were really professional, arrived early and always left everything clean when they left. We’re really happy with the finished loft space - we know it’s built really soundly and the quality has been excellent. A great experience and we’d really recommend TLC for anyone looking for an affordable company to do their loft. If we decide to do a back extension at some point we’ll definitely be reaching out to TLC again.

If I could give these guys 10 stars out of 5, I would!
We had our loft done and just had it completed about a week ago and we are so happy with the result! It took the TLC team less than three months to build the structure, and create our bedroom, ensuite and walk-in wardrobe space.
This project is our fourth building project in the last 10 years and it has been by far the smoothest and easiest building project (even with 3 kids under 10, believe it or not!) we have ever done. The whole team is incredibly hardworking but also very friendly.
Communication has been great throughout the process and Connor has been an excellent project manager: not only he listened to some of my silly ideas but also always offered solutions that made better sense in terms of structure and design as well as cost effectiveness.
In the past, with previous building contractors, we had plumbers and tilers that couldn't stand each other and poor team management which was a nightmare and led to really silly mistakes. Well this time, with TLC's staff and contractors it was the complete opposite: the TLC team members all respect and communicate well with each other which has been a real breath of fresh air for us! They were all so polite and had such remarkable attention to detail! AND! Would leave the house clean after finishing their work! Even the plasterers (which is almost impossible hahaha)!
Even our neighbours were impressed by how quick our project was completed and they all praised how the TLC team kept the noise to a minimum and how they were expecting our building work to be a disruption but it ended up not being a disturbance at all!
In a nutshell, if you are thinking of hiring TLC, here is why you should: fast delivery of project, reliable, honest, great attention to detail, hardworking, great communication, brilliant and friendly team, respectful of neighbours (which is a big one now that everyone works from home!). After months of researching different construction companies to build our loft conversion we saw signs for TLC who were working locally and decided to give them a call.
We wanted a full service contractor who would project manage and organise trades on our behalf; this was to be our first project of this scale so wanted to work with a company that would be able to guide us through the process.
From our first meeting with Connor he was very thorough in his explanation about how TLC worked; he talked us through every stage and what would be required and what to prepare for. Within a few days he had already prepared our quote and sent it over with no hard sell or push for deposits - he was very patient after a lot of back and forth over contracts and changes we wanted to make.
When we got to our start date everything ran to schedule; we were kept informed of who would be coming for each stage and were put into a group chat with all the contractors so we could all keep in touch.
The build moved very quickly; the contractors were all efficient and turned up when they were booked to. They also gave us advice about things to consider when choosing materials and finishes.
Andrew, our PM, was invaluable and checked in with us daily and had regular site visits to make sure we were happy with all the work being carried out. This was very important to us because when choosing a contractor you want to have a good relationship with your team as you are letting people into your home for a long period of time; it was also important to us to have a team that were approachable which the whole TLC team were.
The team of contractors were all professional, hardworking and very friendly. Everything was completed to a high standard and the team worked diligently until we were satisfied.
We are so happy we chose TLC - they turned a daunting, stressful project into an easy build and were so professional and accommodating whilst doing so- we will not hesitate to use them for future projects.
They turned a dark,unused and unloved space into a beautiful bedroom, with en-suite and walk in wardrobe.

We received 4 quotations for our proposed loft extension. TLC came highly recommended and as soon as we met with Connor we felt very comfortable and at ease.
They instructed their draftsman to draw up the proposed plans and were very accommodating in amending the plans, once we were happy they filled in all paperwork and submitted documents and plans into the council.
Once we got planning we had a meeting and agreed a start date. We had a lovely team (Callum and Sean to name a few) they showed commitment, compassion and are extremely hard workers. TLC were always there to answer any questions we had, communication was excellent and not forgetting their hard work carrying nine 2.6m x1.2m tiles up the scaffolding and through the loft window.
The project took just under 9 weeks and we are delighted with the outcome.
We would highly recommend TLC to anyone wanting to carry out a loft extension.

"The Loft Converter are an honourable company with great integrity, who ultimately produced exactly the space we wanted in our loft. We would advise other customers to use their full service, from planning to design to completion. We made the mistake of involving an architect of our own, who created nothing but problems and put TLC in the position of having to increase their costs early in the project, to take into account the architect's inaccurate drawings, resulting in having to raise the roof. However, after that massive hiccup, about which TLC were mortified, all went smoothly and was largely completed within their estimated time scale. The snagging process took rather longer than strictly necessary, but was all done to our satisfaction before we paid the final bill. We have no hesitation in recommending their services."
